Brief Bio
Introduction. Dr. Ellis is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario, with a cross-appointment to the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences. Her role is one of a Clinician Scientist with approximately 70% of her academic portfolio dedicated to research.
She is the Chair of the Division of Allergy & Immunology in the Department of Medicine and the Director of the Environmental Exposure Unit (EEU), a unique, internationally recognized and validated research facility. Under her direction, the EEU provides a controlled allergen challenge for the study of allergic rhinitis and is capable of evaluating up to 120 participants at a time. Her areas of research interest and expertise include conducting clinical trials of new therapies, and basic science investigations of Allergic Rhinitis, Peanut Allergy, and the developmental origins of allergy and asthma.
Dr. Ellis also runs regular Allergy & Immunology Clinics out of the Hotel Dieu Hospital, providing clinical assessments of allergic rhinitis (hayfever), asthma, food allergy & anaphylaxis, drug allergy, stinging insect allergy, urticaria (hives) and eczema in addition to immunodeficiency and other immune disorders.
